Information we collect
The app adds a hover zoom effect to product images on your storefront. To provide it, we handle the following information at the store level.
Stored in our database:
- Your shop's domain (e.g., your-store.myshopify.com)
- The access token issued by Shopify at installation and the access scopes you approved, which let the app work with your store
Stored in your Shopify store as app data (metafields):
- Your zoom settings: zoom level, zoom window size, gallery option and on/off status
- The products, collections, tags and product categories you select to show or hide zoom (their IDs and names)
- Whether a plan is active and which plan it is, used to enable features on your storefront
Read from Shopify when needed, but not stored by us:
- Your products and collections, when you open the product or collection picker
- Your live theme's settings, to show whether the app embed is turned on
- Your subscription status, provided by Shopify's billing system
We access this information through Shopify's Admin API, using only the access scopes you approve at installation (read access to products and themes).
Information we do not collect
We do not collect, store, or process any personal data belonging to your customers or storefront visitors — no names, email addresses, order history, payment details, or browsing behavior.
The zoom script that runs on your storefront does not set cookies, does not track visitors, and does not send any data to our servers. Zoomed images are loaded directly from Shopify's content delivery network.
How we use this information
We use the information above only to:
- Show your settings, products and collections inside the app
- Apply your zoom settings and rules on your storefront through a theme app embed
- Enable the features of your selected plan
- Provide support when you contact us
- Maintain and improve the app
We never sell, rent, or share this information for marketing purposes.
Data storage and hosting
We rely on the following providers:
- Render (render.com) hosts the application and keeps its server logs.
- Neon (neon.com) hosts the database, on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Shopify stores your app settings as metafields in your store.
These providers may process data on servers outside your country and maintain their own security and compliance practices.
Data retention and deletion
We keep store-level data only for as long as the app stays installed.
- When you uninstall the app, Shopify removes the app's settings from your store, and we delete your shop's access token from our database.
- Shopify's mandatory
shop/redactwebhook, sent 48 hours after uninstalling, triggers a final deletion of any remaining data tied to your shop. - Server logs are kept for a limited period according to our hosting provider's retention settings.
- Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.
Compliance with data protection laws
Because we hold no customer personal data, requests made through Shopify's customers/data_request and customers/redact webhooks return or delete nothing, as none exists. Requests through shop/redact delete all store-level data tied to your shop, as described in Section 6.
If you're located in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with applicable data protection laws, you may have additional rights over any data we hold. Contact us using the details in Section 1 to exercise them.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect this information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. Access tokens are stored in a password-protected database and all connections are encrypted. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top will change whenever we do. We encourage you to check back periodically.
